On 26 May 1993, Olympique de Marseille became the first French club to win the European Cup. Basile Boli's goal in Munich, against Fabio Capello's AC Milan, entered the legend.
Bernard Tapie and Raymond Goethals' team fielded a golden generation: Fabien Barthez, Marcel Desailly, Basile Boli, Jocelyn Angloma, Didier Deschamps, Abedi Pelé, Chris Waddle, Alen Bokšić and Jean-Pierre Papin, who left mid-season.
Marseille also dominated Ligue 1 that season, before an epic finale. The club from the south remains to this day the only French winner of the European Cup.
